RE-CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Pursuant to Code of Virginia, §19.2-163.03, after initially qualifying for Felony and Misdemeanor certification to accept court appointed cases, the attorney shall maintain eligibility for certification biennially by notifying the VIDC of completion of at least 8.0 hours of VIDC and MCLE-approved continuing legal education, 2 of which shall be VIDC approved mental health courses.
In addition, to maintain eligibility to accept court appointments in Juvenile cases, an attorney shall complete biennially thereafter 4.0 additional hours of VIDC and MCLE-approved continuing legal education on representing juveniles. Please note that CLE on representing juveniles can be used towards Misdemeanor/Felony Re-Certification. But generally, Misdemeanor/Felony CLE does not apply towards Juvenile Re-Certification.
