A newsletter concerning recent changes in the law and legal points of interest is advertising under the Virginia Code of Professional Responsibility. Accordingly, DR:2-102 and DR:2-103 provide guidance. Specifically, so long as the newsletter does not contain false, fraudulent, misleading or deceptive statements or claims, it may be distributed to past clients, present clients, other acquaintances of an attorney for whom the attorney does not handle legal matters, and to the general public.
