LEO: Conflict of Interest - Divorce LE Op. 822
Conflict of Interest - Divorce.
October 9, 1986
An attorney represented client A in a divorce matter during which the attorney learned substantial facts about X, a close friend and associate of A. After the attorney concluded representation of A, X's prior spouse requested the attorney represent her in an attempt to increase spousal support. The committee opined that it was not improper for the attorney to represent X's prior spouse as long as the attorney used no confidential information gained through the representation of A.
