LEO: Law Firm - Contracting to Sell Computer LE Op. 914
Law Firm - Contracting to Sell Computer Software.
April 30, 1987
It is not improper per se for an attorney to contract to sell a computer software package specifically tailored for medical collections to a corporation, wherein the attorney's law firm maintains the exclusive right to use the software package in the law firm's collection work for a period of time. The committee cautions the attorney to be mindful of the provisions of DR:4-101 and DR:5-101. [ DR:4-101, DR:5-101]
