Cosponsored with the Construction Law and Public Contracts Section of the Virginia State Bar
During the 2021 session, the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation expanding the number of judges on the Court of Appeals from 11 to 17. Effective January 1, 2022, the jurisdiction of the Virginia Court of Appeals will also be expanded, providing an appeal of right in every civil case, and an appeal of right for defendants in criminal cases. This panel discusses how the changes to the newly expanded Court of Appeals affects appeals in civil cases.
